Elizabeth Warren On Sequestration: ‘This Is Taking A Meat Axe To Our Budget’ [VIDEO]

Fresh from speaking at the funeral of MIT Police officer Sean Collier, Senator Elizabeth Warren appeared on CBS This Morning to encourage donations to One Fund Boston to support the victims of the Boston bombing.

Massachusetts’ senior senator was also asked to comment on the flight delays happening as result of the automatic cuts known as sequestration.

“I have to tell you,” she said. “This is about how bad sequestration is overall. This is taking a meat axe to our budget. Let’s keep in mind, there are children who having a hard time getting their spots in Head Start, cutbacks on Meals On Wheels for seniors.”

“The real point is sequestration is not a sensible way to deal with our financial problems,” she continued. “The job of Congress is to come together to find sensible spending cuts, which I think are on the table and have been offered, and to close some of the corporate loopholes so that they’re paying their fair share to help fund this government.”

CBS’ Gayle King then tried to get the senator to “concentrate” on flight delays, “the main story here.”

The media continues to have no shame about only covering the sequestration when it affects business travelers. The poor, the elderly and veterans — however — are taking the brunt of the cuts.
